Hey everyone! My name is Jack Perry, and I am very excited to kick off this new semester and learn everything there is to know about Work and Employment Relations in Canada. I am a second-year Commerce student from Toronto and I love to Ski. I recently went on a trip with the Queen’s Ski and Snowboard club to Mount Sutton, which was an amazing experience! As someone who will potentially be involved in managing a workforce or involved in one, I believe that taking EMPR 200 will be hugely beneficial in my skill development for future career opportunities and advancement in a business-oriented atmosphere. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Hey Nolan, glad to hear you share a similar passion of skiing! If your ever close to Toronto and want some good skiing, I recommend skiing in Collingwood. They have multiple hills such as Blue Mountain, Osler, Craigleigth, and more! If you want to get outside of Canada, there is amazing skiing in the French, Swiss, and Austrian alps! I greatly look forward to working with you throughout this semester as well.

You noted that you’re taking EMPR 200 while pursuing a Commerce degree. As you proceed in this course, I think you’ll find many connections between Employment Relations and business. From understanding the legal foundations of labour law and employment standards to mapping the ways in which a business’s HR strategy conforms to its organizational mandate, there is so much to learn and so many places to dive into the inter-related challenges of these fields. I hope you’ll bring your business background and related perspective to your work in this course!
